When we first met up with Killa Kela some 18 months ago to do our first interview and photo shoot with him, it was one of the most fun days we've had on a set. There was absolutely none of the initial awkwardness or quiet tension you sometimes experience when you sit down with an globe trotting entertainer whos meeting new people in a new city every other day and who just played a raucous late set the night earlier. Quite the contrast, lots of jokes and stories were being told and every one has having a good laugh. We set up some ridiculous photos that day (you can see our original feature on Killa Kela here) and Kela eagerly obliged in helping these shots pop off. He and our resident photographer, Che Kothari, were getting along famously and getting each other psyched up about working on together on more creative collaborations in the the future. While meeting likeminded people happens alot in music and entertainment circles, we really left the set that day feeling like our paths would cross again in the near future.
Fast forward a few months later, and Kela is back in town on another tour stop. We dont hesitate to jump at the opportunity of getting on of the worlds most recognized beatboxers back in our studio and using whatever time we have before he moves on to his next stop to make a music video. The result is here: the video premiere of an acapella version of one of his self composed tracks: Cant Slow Down.
Much respect to Kela for being a dope person on top of a great performer. Big ups to Earwaks' Che Kothari and Mark Valino for putting this video together. Enjoy!
