TO announced as host for one of the most bangin' school sessions ever

Producers, musicians, MCs and DJs, take note. The 2007 Red Bull Music Academy goes down in Toronto for a whole new adventure in sound, Sept. 23 – Oct. 26. Since 1998, the Red Bull Music Academy has seen 540 music makers walk through its doors, studios and stages, with past annual editions landing in culturally rich cities such as Sao Paulo, Cape Town, and London, England.

The academy features a worldwide pool of  participants from approximately 30 different countries that come together in a new location each year. They hear new perspectives and music from the Music Academy lecturers, who rank among music’s all-time forward-thinking pioneers. Past lecturers include Derrick May, Bob Moog, Tiga, Just Blaze, Caribou, Steelie & Cleevie, A-Trak, Peter Hook of New Order, and Madlib. The event also features a unique process of exchange and discovery where incredibly talented music makers of every age and persuasion make connnections, recording not only original tracks but performing live with the lecturers in venues small, fine and divine.

 

April 12th will mark the first of Music Academy related events in Toronto, with an info session and preview concert taking place. The preview concert will feature a very special jam session with renowned funk drummer Bernard Purdie and DJ Cut Chemist.Full event details can be found here

a million levels of awesome

What an awesome concept, and Bernard Purdie has to be one of the most sampled drummers as well.
